Del Carlo Court is a 100-percent affordable apartment community on Cesar Chavez Street, two blocks from the 24th and Mission BART station. The four-story, 25-unit building was completed on a site Mission Housing acquired in 1988 through a grassroots effort to prevent high-rise development on the parcel, and earned both the 1993 AIA Honor Award and the 1995 AIA San Francisco Honor Award for its design. The property is named for Joseph Del Carlo, a longtime Mission Coalition Organization advocate who chaired Mission Housing's board for eighteen years.
